Back to Future is widely considered one of the best films of all time and features an unforgettable opening sequence, the use of classic tracks (“The Power of Love” and “Johnny B. Goode“), boasting the coolest movie car ever in the DeLorean and who could forget one of the all time great closing lines (“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”)
Not many people know this but Michael J Fox was the second person to play Marty McFly after Eric Stoltz was originally casted. However, during the initial filming, it was decided that Stoltz was a miscast and the rest became history.
It was an exciting time when 21 October 2015, the “future” depicted in the movie came along and many people compared what the movie accurately predicted the future would hold – High tech specs with some form of virtual reality (Oculus Rift / Samsung Gear VR), Flat screen TVs, Video conferencing, biometric payments and self lacing shoes (Nike HyperAdapt) all came true. However the world still does not yet have flying cars, hover boards (not commercially anyway) and self-drying clothes.
All in all, we would still say that the movie was pretty spot on given you only spent around 34 minutes of the entire movie in 2015 Hill Valley. That short amount of screen time has made an immense impact on the pop culture landscape and our own obsession with this movie franchise.
Our Marty sock pays homage to one of our most favourite sequels of all time, Back To The Future II. Designed after the self-lacing Nike Air Mags, Marty is for those who believe that anything is possible and that our future is whatever we make of it.
