The Vintage Nike Collector

One of the most anticipated sneaker releases of 2018 (and some say the shoe of the year), the Nike Air Max 1/97 was designed by Sean Wotherspoon. Best described as a vintage collector and Nike aficionado, Sean was one of the co-owners of Round Two, a Buy-Sell-Trade store for rare, hype and vintage goods that has a huge celebrity following.

Nike “Vote Forward” Campaign 2017

The Air Max 1/97 is a multi-colored hybrid design between the iconic Air Max 1 and Air Max 97. Its roots took shape during the “Vote Forward” contest held in 2017 where Nike invited 12 “RevloutionAirs” from around the globe to reimagine the future of the Air Max. Their designs were then part of a contest where fans could cast their votes and the winner (announced on Air Max Day 2017) would have their designs made and released the following year.

Sean’s design was inspired by the corduroy Nike hats of the 80s and he utilized bold pastel colors and frayed edges to give the silhouette a vintage look. The shoe also contains a removable Velcro wave tongue patch; a homage to the California surf where Round Two LA is based. True to his vintage roots, the shoe was designed to wear better with age as the corduroy upper frays over time, revealing the layers beneath.

Our Sean sock was designed to compliment the Air Max 97/1 Sean Wotherspoon and feature intricate wave pattern knitted in similar pastel colors. Sean is for those of us who gravitate towards nostalgia and look to collect things with character that wear better with age. We really hope you enjoy our Sean sock. Being huge fans of what Sean and Round Two has done, this is definitely special for us.
