Fortune Favors the bold

Originating from Dublin in 1759, Guinness is one of the most successful beer brands worldwide in terms of sales and is well known for its advertising; in Asia particularly, the series of iconic TV ads in the 90s featuring Hong Kong actor-singer George Lam and his classic “Are you afraid of the dark” punchline that alludes to the beverage’s reputation as a bold, intense stout with extra hops.

One of its more recent ads “Guinness Wheelchair” shows a game of wheelchair basketball which ends with a touching reveal that all of the men are able to walk with the exception of one and they were doing it by choice to spend more time with their handicapped friend.

The commercial is based on the insight that when you go to a pub, most people order a beer but it takes a certain type of person to choose a Guinness.

Named after Arthur Guinness, our Arthur sock features the iconic silhouette of the famous Irish dry stout. For those who believe that fortune favours the bold, Arthur is a reminder that the choices we make reveal the true nature of our character.
